Easily import data - Easily import data from Quicken Essentials for Mac, Quicken Mac 2007, and Quicken 2010 for Windows or newer versions. Easy to get started and keep going - Step-by-step guidance helps you get up and running fast. Gives you the big picture in minutes. Special tool for upgraders, too! Easy setup tool for automatic downloads. Oct 08, 2019 I’ve been with Quicken sine 1995 but have finally and fully become fed up with Q. I want mac based (not cloud based) software and need to be able to port my data from Quicken. My needs are simple reports, and a checkbook type interface for tax purposes. I’ve narrowed my options to MoneyDance, as I understand that Banktivity is cloud based.
I've been a Quicken user since 1988, all on DOS or Windows. I am interested in trying the latest version for the Mac as I am now primarily a Mac user (with VMWare so I can continue using Quicken for Windows). Since I am not sure that the Mac version will meet all of my needs, I need to know if I purchase the Mac version for download and give it a try (I will naturally keep a backup of my data files), can I get a refund and then purchase the 2017 Windows version if the Mac version doesn't work out for me? If so, how?

- edited March 2017Yes. There is a 60 day no questions asked refund policy. So you can try it.
- edited August 2018You have 60 days form date of purchase to get a refund. Then you can re-purchase the version you want. See details here: https://www.quicken.com/support/Terms-and-Conditions-For-Exchanging-Returning-or-Refunding-Quicken-P..
To help you along on moving to Quicken for Mac, here is the entire process: https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/faq-converting-from-quicken-for-windows-includin..
In your case, you can skip steps 1 and 2 but review all the prep and background info before.
NOTE: Be aware that at this time, it is very difficult to convert back from Mac to Windows, as there are many problems with the reverse conversion process.
I also suggest that you make sure that Quicken 2017 for Mac will meet your needs, since it was re-written from the ground up (starting in 2010 with Quicken Essentials) and is not the same product as the Windows version, so there are some features that are still not there e.g. loan amortization, 2-line display, QuickMath, auto-backups, or are not as fully developed yet, e.g. Customized Reports, investment lot management and performance reports and stats (therefore some data may not carry over). You can start here:
http://www.quicken.com/mac/compare
Also read some of the Fixes and Improvements that are being released soon here:
http://www.quicken.com/upcoming-product-fixes-and-improvements
You will also want to look at a more detailed comparison done by a SuperUser which also identifies nuances not mentioned elsewhere (and read on for comments from other users too on that same discussion thread):
https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/can-anyone-who-has-switched-from-2007-to-2015-he..
Take a look at the following videos to give you a better idea:

Note that there are many differences that are rather subtle, that are not necessarily identifiable via documentation, for example, the 12-month budget feature does not allow including transfers, including investment income, selecting specific accounts, or have rollover capability.

- edited August 2018I highly recommend that you browse through the IDEAS section of this forum and VOTE for the request of each of the missing features to be added back into Quicken for Mac..to help direct the priorities of the developers.
This will help make the transition easier for you when you are ready to upgrade by seeking to have the features you are used to in QWin end up in the latest version.
To do that, I suggest you read this FAQ on how to filter the IDEAS to just show the ones for the Mac version, then VOTE to your heart's content:
https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/quicken-getsat-faq-how-to-filter-conversations-d..
The following are some of the many feature requests you will find:- List of Requests for Report Related Features
- Improve the Bill Reminders Graph (aka Forecast or Projected Balance)
- Add QuickMath functionality
- True multi-currency conversion support
- Loan Amortization
- Budget features
- many requests for configuration options
Be sure to scroll down each page, as some contain lists of related features. Click on the link to EACH IDEA separately that you are interested in, then click the VOTE button at the top of EACH page that opens up respectively to increase the count and therefore its visibility to the developers.
If you do not click VOTE at the top of the page of each feature, your vote will NOT be counted for THAT specific feature!
